Abstract:
The Nb-W alloy is an important structured material used for thrust chamber of orbit-attitude control liquid rocket engine. However, it is easy to be oxidized terribly in the oxygen environment, so the anti-oxidation coating must be used to overcome its weakness. Therefore, with method of spraying and vacuum sintering, a silicide coating was prepared on Nb-W alloy to make thermal protection at high temperature. In this paper, the formation of silicide coating, oxidation resistance, thermal shock resistance and anti-ablation were studied to make sure the properties and failure mechanism of silicide coating. The test results indicate that the oxidation time of coating is 11±0.78 h at 1700℃ and 5±0.46 h at 1 800℃; the thermal shocking cycles are 124±9 at 1 600 ℃ to ambient temperature in water; and the thermal shocking cycles are 3410±124 at 1 600~800 ℃ in air. The study results show that the alloy, which have important influence on the research of the new anti-oxidation coatings.
