Abstract:
Rheological and flowing characteristics of gelled monopropellant DT-3 have been investigated. According to the hot tests results, gelled monopropellant DT-3 is a kind of shear shinning non-Newtonian fluid in the range of the experimental temperatures. Temperature, pressure drop and geometric structure have effects on the rheological characteristics of gelled monopropellant DT-3. Properly increasing of injector diameter can get better flowing and spray characteristics for the gelled monopropellant. Hot tests show that specific impulse of experimental thrusters is lower than that of liquid DT-3.
