Abstract:
This paper analyzed the compositions of ion thruster plume. Mechanism of particles formation, beam ion physical model, neutral propellant model, and charge-exchange(CEX)production physical model were established. The distributions of the particles in the plume of 20cm Xenon thruster were simulated. Finally, the plume characteristics were analyzed and the available approach for reducing the plume contamination was presented.
