Abstract:
A supercritical flexible rotor is applied in the hydrogen turbopump of a LOX/LH2 rocket engine. To solve the sub-synchronous vibration problems occured during the hydrogen turbopump development, turbopump idling test is conducted in this study. The operating information of the rotor is obtained through the displacement sensors and acceleration sensors arranged in the turbopump. Studies and tests are conducted on influence factors, such as the pre-load on the shaft, location of the seal rotating ring, clearance between components, metal damper, and etc. From test results, it is well acknowledged that the increase of the pre-load is very useful on suppressing the abnormal frequency; the further the seal rotating ring is from the bearing, the easier the emersion of the abnormal vibration frequency; the proper increase of the clearance between the sleeve and the shaft can reduce the internal friction, and hence increase the stability of the system; the application of metal-
